S-ILF's Participation in Nature Bazaar 2010 |
|
Sasakawa-India Leprosy Foundation has been participating in Nature
Bazaar organized by Dastkar, a popular annual handicrafts and handloom
extravaganza, held in Delhi, for the last 3 years consecutively. Held at
IGNCA, Janpath from 21st to 31st October, 2010, the objective of taking
part in this exhibition was to showcase and celebrate the dreams and
aspirations of people affected by leprosy. This year 5 colonies
participated and their products were of better design, quality and
competitively priced. As a result, SILF was able to double the sales of
the previous two years.
The products exhibited at the S-ILF stall were at par with products
created by weavers and artisans and received good response. The stall
had on display products like woolen shawls, tweeds, woolen scarves, silk
and woolen stoles, cotton and hand woven woolen and bed linen, table
linen, bags and floor mats, hand block printed bed linen and dress
material etc. from across the country.
The response from the patrons of Nature Bazaar had been very positive
and heart-warming. Nobody expressed any apprehension or prejudice and
has accepted the products for its utility, competitive pricing and
aesthetic value. In fact, we could live up to the fact that our products
created by leprosy affected people are just as good as anybody else's
products. |
