SILF, for the second time, participated in Nature Bazaar, a popular annual crafts’ bazaar organized by Dastkar in Delhi.
Beautiful hand crafted and hand woven products made by people once affected by leprosy from five colonies from different States were showcased. The SILF’s stall for the year 2009 was themed as ‘Come and see the magic!’ This theme reflects the magic wrought created by people who have been cured of leprosy, and who now lead lives touched by hope and the joys of endeavour and creation. The response to the products was good and encouraging for the craftspeople.
The stall had on display products like woollen shawls, tweeds, silk scarves, cotton shirts and kurtas for men, cotton and silk bed linen, table linen, candles, bags and paintings from across the country. The tweeds were made into high end fashion garments, like jackets and capes, for men, women and kids, by a well known fashion designer, Ria Ali.
SILF Partners in Nature Bazaar were Panchachuli (Almora, Uttrakhand), Sarthak Manav Kusht Ashram (Jaipur, Rajasthan), Little Flower Leprosy Colony (Raxaul, Bihar), Sumanahalli Leprosy Colony (Sumanahalli, Bangalore), Bethany Colony Leprosy Association (Bethany, Andhra Pradesh) & Ria Ali (Designer from Delhi)
