|
To overcome the stigma against those affected by leprosy
is to bring about a change in mindsets, a task that is more daunting
than merely providing facilities and funds. We at SILF realize that it
is going to be a long journey; at the same time we believe that with the
help and goodwill of people from all walks of life, from the head of an
industrial empire to the common man on the street, we should be able to
get there. India is changing fast, its material prosperity must carry
with it social and economic inclusiveness. The integration of those
marginalised on account of having had leprosy, or belonging to families
that have been affected by it, must be part of the vision of India as an
economically strong, politically vibrant and socially enlightened and
just democracy.
