Launch of Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (SILF) |

10th October, 2007, IHC, New Delhi:
SILF embarked on its journey with its Launch by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
Pledging his support to the cause he said that eradication of stigma
against leprosy and integrating those cured into the mainstream is a
“muti-dimensional task”.
Stressing on removing stigma through increasing awareness, Dr. Kalam
mentioned his vision of seeing a movie made on Leprosy like Black in the
near future and stressed on the importance of rehabilitation of leprosy
affected people with “compassion”, since these people are “lonely and
dejected, and considered as non-existent by most of us”.
10th October, 2007, Taj Palace, New Delhi:
Mr. P. Chidambarm , Hon’ble Finance Minister, on the Reception of the
Inaugural function, emphasized on the non-contagious nature of the
disease and therefore sought the support of the Corporates, and urged
them to contribute in every small way they can, either through
employment or skills training or scholarships to the meritorious.
11th October, 2007, Taj Apollo Bunder, Mumbai:
Mr. Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman of Godrej Industries while assuring his
support for the cause urged his fellow colleagues to Lend their support
for empowering the leprosy affected people economically and socially.
