S-ILF Participates at MIF & AWWA Event |
|
S-ILF has a multi-faceted approach in its awareness building,
communications and advocacy activities. In the course of our work we
have often been surprised by the lack of information about leprosy among
educated people even in urban areas. To create awareness it is important
to make scientific facts about leprosy available in easy to understand
format in public places.
In keeping with this, we collaborated with Max India Foundation (MIF) to
disseminate information on leprosy at an event organized by them for
raising awareness on breast cancer. Max India Foundation and the Army
Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) screened a docu-film “One a Minute” at
the DGNCC Auditorium at Army Cantonment, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi on 29th
April 2011. SILF participated by displaying a colourful and
well-designed standee with facts about leprosy and by distributing
pamphlets on the myths and scientific facts about the diseases to all
the participants.
The event was well attended by 200-250 Army Officers’ wives and their
friends including the President Central of AWWA Mrs. Bharti Singh. The
Chief Guest at the event was Mrs. Elizabeth Antony, wife of Shri A.K.
Antony, Minister of Defence, Govt. of India. Head of Max India
Foundation, Mrs. Mohini Daljeet Singh was there to present the film. The
S-ILF standee was placed prominently at the entrance of the auditorium
and attracted attention of all the guests.
